All About Jack was a hit last night!!! The band sounded great, you couldn't see the floor on the dance floor. Michelle was amazing just like the rest of the guys.
The band was started with the premise that we would develop an eclectic mix of cover tunes we as a group have always wanted to play. All the band members have been full-time professional musicians at some point in their careers but now enjoy making music together as a serious part-time avocation.
The band has worked in a wide variety of venues from casinos show rooms, clubs and pubs to BC Place Stadium for the BC Lions Fanfest event. Corporate functions, dinner dances and special events are also well suited to the band’s repertoire and stage presence.
From load-in and set-up, to the last note of the evening, All About Jack are consummate professionals and you and your guests are sure to have a great time.
Back in November of 2000, Bruce and Kevin were introduced to Bill and was pretty much the beginning of the band. But we could not get any gigs with just guitar, keys and drums. We then added Peter on bass and eventually Angela filled in on vocals. We were all pretty rusty (not so much Peter, as I think he sleeps with his guitar) ...and we would find ourselves crashing and burning in the middle of a song. It was very frustrating and sometimes tempers would appear, which was then time to go get some air. We joked around about maybe naming the band "OTIS" as in elevators - since we seemed to fall in the elevator shaft often.
Then one particularly bad trip down the shaft, Bill went into his guitar case and pulled out a flask. He said we needed to pass it around an all take a swig of some mojo. It was great, sweet with a hint of orange and it warmed our bellies as it trickled through our bodies. We all asked "What was that?" Bill replied, "Well Jack Daniels corn whiskey, of course!"
So everytime we had a ride down the shaft, we all took a pull from the flask and things just seemed to get better. Since then, we have introduced many to our little secret and all have embraced it with open minds. Our indulgence these days is only "ceremonial" and we all have a small nip of mojo before hitting the stage (just to keep the shaft trips at bay).
And that's how we got our name.
We hope to see you at one of our shows in the near future. Always indulge in the band and the mojo responsibly.
All About Jack has been rocking the Lower Mainland for over ten years and yes, we were here before the radio station!
